Digital Marketing Resume Guide for Entry-Level Pakistani Marketers

An entry-level digital marketing resume should show work a hiring manager can inspect: a campaign brief, content sample, analytics report or clearly labelled practice project. You do not need a large advertising budget or paid client history to explain your contribution honestly.

This guide focuses on marketing evidence, measurement and portfolios. If you need help with general graduate structure, use the CV-without-experience guide.

1. Use meaningful metrics and explain their context

Write what you did, how you checked it and what the result means. A number without a period, baseline or source can be misleading.

Vague claimBetter evidence
Wrote SEO contentPublished five articles and compared their Search Console impressions across two stated periods
Managed social mediaPrepared a content calendar, scheduled approved posts and summarised platform-reported results
Increased salesDescribe the tracked campaign revenue only if you have access to reliable reporting

These are illustrative examples, not measured outcomes from a real campaign. Google's Search Console definitions distinguish impressions from clicks. Neither metric alone proves a sale or that your content caused a change.

For advertising work, state the spend, reporting period and measurement source. A fictional PKR 24,000 in attributed revenue divided by PKR 10,000 in ad spend would be 2.4x return on ad spend. This illustrates the calculation, not a target for beginners or proof of profit. Google Ads' ROAS explanation relates conversion value to ad spend. Use a revenue claim only when your tracking supports it, and explain the attribution basis.

2. List tools you have actually used

Group skills around the vacancy rather than listing every platform:

  • Content: WordPress publishing, keyword research or Canva assets you produced.
  • Measurement: Search Console reports or GA4 events you have worked with.
  • Advertising: Meta Ads Manager or Google Ads tasks you personally completed.

These are examples, not a required stack. Watching tutorials is different from managing a live account. Label a course exercise or simulated campaign as practice. You can demonstrate communication through an approved brief, client update or report.

3. Describe freelance, volunteer and practice work accurately

Paid freelance work can appear under Freelance Experience with dates, your role and the scope delivered. A volunteer project belongs under Volunteer Experience, and an unpaid practice brief belongs under Projects. Do not describe every gig or university exercise as formal employment.

For client work, explain what you owned: research, copy, design, scheduling or reporting. Obtain permission before sharing reports or work samples. Remove private customer information, account identifiers and confidential budgets. If you cannot publish the work, describe a redacted case study only where the client permits it.

4. Build a portfolio a recruiter can inspect

For each sample, include the brief, your contribution, the deliverable and what you learned. A small, relevant selection is easier to assess than a long list of unexplained links.

  • Link directly to an accessible sample or case study.
  • Test the link in a signed-out browser and on a phone.
  • Identify mock campaigns clearly; do not invent clients or results.
  • Check links remain clickable after exporting the PDF.

When evaluating local roles, compare the actual duties and advertised or offered pay. An SEO content role, paid-media role and account-management role need different evidence. This guide does not give an unsupported national salary range; ask about gross pay, working hours, probation and whether advertising spend is separate from your compensation.

Do not add GA4, ROAS or growth results unless you can explain the work and show appropriate evidence.

Preview the Studio template. Its modern header and sidebar fit a contemporary presentation, with campaign or project entries in the main column. Add your own portfolio links and test the export.

For an application needing a simpler reading order, use ClearPath ATS. Greenhouse's parsing guidance identifies columned layouts as a possible parsing difficulty; that does not prove every employer rejects them.

Before applying, confirm your sample labels, tool proficiency, dates and link permissions. Use the job-description tailoring guide to prioritise the evidence that matches the role.
